Automation/Controls Engineer (Electrical & Software Engineering Bias)

A key member of the Divisional Engineering team, the Automation/Controls Engineer will deliver robust and compliant electrical and software process improvements and support or lead multiple engineering projects throughout the division.
The Automation Engineer will be based in North Wales but an important aspect to the role is the flexibility to travel between our sites in UK, Ireland and Europe.

Main objectives

  • Support divisional engineering capital projects at any of the manufacturing sites
  • Support, initiate, deploy and sign off process improvement and efficiency improvement modifications to manufacturing systems at any of our sites
  • To carry out design and testing tasks on project proposals
  • Assist the local site engineering and production department with any major breakdowns or faults at short notice

Main responsibilities of the role

  • To carry out specific engineering tasks delegated to him by the Divisional Automation Manager or Divisional Engineering Director as appropriate
  • Provide software/electrical engineering discipline input into project/design teams executing specific projects on site
  • Produce electrical engineering design and project support deliverables in line with corporate engineering standards
  • Recommend and support value added improvement initiatives where appropriate
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the Controls department and take a pro-active approach contributing to the meetings from an engineering perspective
  • Attend training to develop relevant self-knowledge and technical skills
  • To support the local sites manufacturing process by being proactive on the correction and modification of reoccurring machine processing faults

Skills and experience required

  • Significant and demonstrated experience in electrical and software engineering, a hands on Electrical Engineer degree/HND/HNC qualified or equivalent with at least 5 years’ experience in a similar environment.
  • Working knowledge of PLC’s with certified training or demonstrated experience – ideally Siemens S7 300/400 with extensive programming and diagnosis experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of motion control systems deployed in a manufacturing environment  with certified training or demonstrated experience – Ideally Siemens Simotion/Sinamics drive or similar motion systems
  • Working knowledge of SCADA and Line reporting systems with certified training or demonstrated experience  – ideally Rockwell FactoryTalk or Siemens WINCC suites
  • Knowledge of object orientated programming language such as Visual Basic would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience installing, fault finding on and configuring automation networks such as Industrial Ethernet, Profibus, Profinet etc.
  • Experience in the design and installation of electrical control systems
  • Ability to develop detailed electrical design drawings and post project operational documentation
  • Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills with a ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to work autonomously an absolute must.
  • Ability to use judgment and make decisions in ambiguous and complex situations
  • Willingness to travel, sometimes at very short notice, is essential

  • Demonstrate experience in planning, goal setting and preparation of technical reports.

Group Internal Auditor

A global leader, stock exchange listed, in the manufacturing of construction materials. Extensive growth plans both through organic and acquisitions. OBJECTIVES

  • Plans, executes and reports on audits / review s assigned by the Group Head of Internal Audit.
  • Interprets policy and procedures and applies professional accounting, IT and auditing principles and standards to test and evaluate financial, IT, operational and risk management controls.
  • Develops recommendations which have been agreed with management ensuring that the recommendations are realistic and achievable and cost effective and add value to the business.
  • Build positive working relationships with Hea d Office and Divisional management teams to ensure mutual understanding of the role of internal audit and work with them on business process and internal control improvements.
  • Communicate with key external parties such as auditors and relevant agencies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including ad hoc projects and special investigations as deemed appropriate by the Audit Committee

REPORTS TO: Group Head of Internal Audit

SCREENING PROCESS

  1. Phone interview with Group Head of Internal Audit
  2.  Phone interview with Group Senior Internal Auditor
  3. Meeting with Group Head of Internal Audit
  4. Meeting with Group CFO

TRAVEL Regular travel (up to 30 weeks / year) will be required to the Group’soverseas subsidiaries (+90 manufacturing locations worldwide)

CANDIDATE PROFILE

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The candidate will be a qualified ACA or equivalent.
  • Ideally Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) or ACL Certified Data Analyst (ACDA) desirable.

EXPERIENCE

  • An experienced Internal Audit professional in an international, ideally manufacturing group.
  • Has operating in a Big 4 / Top audit firm and a plc environment for a number of years.
  • Has the ability to strike an appropriate balance between independence and common sense.
  • Risk based approach.
  • Familiarity with computer aided audit techniques.
  • Familiarity with IT General Controls auditing.

  • Able to influence and engage people at all levels across the Group.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity.

Job Description:

As Export Manager, you will be expected to develop and manage a portfolio of company accounts across Europe and World, to deliver sustainable, profitable growth for the business.

The key tasks in this role will be:

  • Develop and implement the strategy for profitable growth within the designated territory;
  • Develop and work with a network of customers to ensure sales targets are achieved;
  • Day to day management of existing accounts ensuring growth opportunities are maximised and profitable;
  • Develop the business’ value proposition through marketing initiatives including testimonials, case studies, on-line presence, communication plans and other collateral;
  • Enhancing customer relationships through exceptional customer service;
  • Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements through effective collaboration with the supply chain team;
  • To work with customers to develop a broader range of lines and to deliver the best solutions to the customer and the business;
  • Development and implementation of promotional strategies;
  • Budgeting, planning and sales forecasts;
  • Preparing effective and professional sales reports and presentations for internal and external presentation as specified;
  • Negotiating margins, price changes, promotional activities etc with all accounts.

Requirements:

  • English (German will be an advantage);
  • Experience in construction;
  • Good technical skills;
  • Experience in logistic will be an advantage;
  • Professional negotiation skills.

Job description:

  • Establishes, develops and maintains business relationships with new potential customers in the assigned territory segment to generate new business for our products;
  • Researches sources for developing prospective customers and for information to determine their potential;
  • Develops clear and effective written proposals/quotations for prospective customers;
  • Coordinates sales effort with marketing, sales management, accounting, logistics and technical service groups;
